Cosmo Films Launches Anti-Fog Biodegradable Film

Published:2026-08-18 · Industry News · Source: 包装前沿
Key Takeaways
  • Cosmo Films launched a transparent, anti-fog, biodegradable film for fresh food packaging to meet performance and sustainability requirements.
  • The film is a co-extruded biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film with heat-sealable and treatable surfaces, featuring oxo-biodegradable properties and biodegrading in about 2 to 2.5 years under suitable conditions.
  • One side of the film provides cold and hot anti-fog function, reducing moisture-induced fogging and maintaining package visibility under varying temperature conditions.
  • The other side offers enhanced printability and good ink adhesion, while the film also delivers excellent machinability and optical properties, high heat seal strength, high hot tack and a low seal initiation temperature.
  • The film was developed specifically for fresh-cut vegetables, salads and meat packaging, and is also suitable for floral wrapping.

Cosmo Films has launched a transparent, anti-fog, biodegradable film to meet the performance and sustainability requirements of fresh food packaging applications.

The newly developed film is a co-extruded, biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film with heat-sealable and treatable surfaces. The film features oxo-biodegradable properties and can biodegrade in about 2 to 2.5 years under suitable conditions, making it an advanced material for packaging applications requiring high transparency, sealing performance and effective fog management.

One key technical feature of the film is its cold and hot anti-fog function on one side, which helps reduce fogging caused by moisture and maintains package visibility under varying temperature conditions. The other side offers enhanced printability and good ink adhesion, supporting high-quality printing and branding requirements. The film also delivers excellent machinability and optical properties, along with high heat seal strength, high hot tack and a low seal initiation temperature. These properties enable efficient processing on packaging lines while supporting reliable seal integrity for fresh produce and other temperature-sensitive applications.

Kulbhushan Malik, Global Business Head at Cosmo Films, said at the launch: "Fresh food packaging requires films to perform across multiple parameters, from optical clarity and anti-fog to seal integrity and processability. For transparent anti-fog biodegradable film, we focused on engineering these functional properties into a single BOPP film while incorporating oxo-biodegradable characteristics. This development reflects our continued focus on application-driven innovation and on creating specialty film solutions that meet evolving packaging needs."

The film has been developed specifically for fresh-cut vegetables, salads and meat packaging, where visibility and effective anti-fog performance are critical to product presentation. Its optical clarity and processing characteristics also make it suitable for floral wrapping applications.

This launch further strengthens Cosmo Films' specialty film portfolio and reflects the company's continued emphasis on R&D-driven innovation and sustainable films. Cosmo Films continues to develop high-performance films tailored to specific end-use applications and the evolving needs of the global packaging industry.

Recently, the Tropical Crop Origin Processing Team of the Institute of Processing, Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences (CATAS) systematically elucidated the regulatory mechanism of metal ions on the structure, properties and food preservation functions of spent coffee grounds-based films, providing new ideas for the high-value utilization of spent coffee grounds and the development of degradable food packaging materials. As the main by-product of the coffee industry, spent coffee grounds are produced in huge quantities globally each year, but most are landfilled as waste, which easily causes environmental problems such as water pollution and methane emissions. It is worth noting that,
